Boss目 Air Intake

Recently I got a chance to came across a Taiwan's Swift owner letting go his Boss目 Air Intake system. Without much thought I had purchase the air intake system from the seller.
After it's arrival, I installed the intake system on my car last weekend.
I had tested it for few days and able to feel more punch during low rpm with better pickup too; this is good for daily driving situation.
I also noticed during cruising; I only need to pedal lighter than before to get the car maintain the speed too.
Still not really tested on the performance during higher rpm... definitely will try it out soon...
The intake system consist of few parts actually.
 Air funnel aka. black hole
 RAM pipe
surge intake at air box + angle joint
surge intake at throttle body aka worm hole
 Installation of Air funnel
 Engine view

Hi SK.... I would advice you to change light weight rims if possible.
Your car can perform better with 5w-30 engine oil too.
After that you can do some slight upgrade if you like to.

SKyTan said...

Koh...wat kind of upgrade u refer to?in terms of performance?i guess rim will be changed after i botak my existing tyre..3w-50 is better?how much the price range?

SKyTan said...

by the way, wats the "Boss目 Air Intake" function?hehe..im totally no idea with car inner...look for your advise..

Koh said...

SkyTan... Engine oil rating of 5w-30
light upgrade like intake, exhaust, and ignition...
The main function of Boss目 Air Intake is to lead large amount of air direct from front part of the car into the intake... some sort like cold air intake...

wat is the origin weight for swift rim? in wat weight u think is light?
sport rim just too costy to me for the moment..hehe..next service as the mechanic said need bout RM850..really swt!!!

Koh said...

SkyTan... original rim weight about 7+kg each.....hmm...i think below 6kg for a 15inch rim is consider light weight rim gua.... japan rims like the TE37 weight around 4kg each... taiwan rims around 6kg...
how long you had driving your swift??? why need to pay 850 for service???
did you join SCM forum? we can discuss more in the forum too...

Btw my fuel consumption I think quite bad , 10.5km/L but not much highway drive . What can improve FC ? Will change rims help ? I'm using stock swift rims . And would like to noe . How heavy are stock rims ? Change to replica that weights 5.5kg (TE37 SL Replica) or 4.9kg ( SSR Tyre C RS Replica ) better ? I'm still searching of air intake/ rambox/ bigger air back box can't find any good price ones .Thx alot

My FC also around 10km/l during city drives... maybe due to the traffic flow stop and go...
Light weight rims will help on the pickup... I bought Advanti storm series just RM860 a set and weights 4.9kg only...
For intake upgrade... you can get a drop in filter like Monster or KNN to try out...

Just get volks te37 for around rm880 b4 trade in price for stock rims . Still quite ok price . Vox Motorsport (i think is the shop name) the price ok ? Top and bottom net grill for swift 1.5 rm200 . They said the bcrew replica only fit zc31 . Can't fit zc21 . Any idea where near KSL shopping centre have good price rear anti roll bar ? Other then KSL area , idk how to go Liao . Lols

Btw is there anyway to custom/DIY air intake like ur boss ones ?

Koh said...

The Bcrew box fit normal swift too... only the Bcrew grill does not fit... but you can add a ram pipe to the intake area...
If you able to find someone to bend a piping like that.. it should be no problem to make one... about the funnel... maybe you need to ask some shop that able to make fiberglass mould...

Koh said...
